One of the things that really bothers me is when people who are overweight stop taking care of themselves. I have many overweight friends and I have been in touch with thousands of overweight people through the Oprah Show. Too often, people with weight issues give up on themselves. I would like to share with you the hope I gave myself even at 550 pounds. I woke up every day and put on pretty clothes that I had specially made, because no store carried my size. I made my face and hair look as beautiful as I could. I even wore fabulous accessories. But most of all, I took great care of my skin. These things gave me the hope I needed to hold on until the day came when I would conquer my weight. I needed so desperately to have something to hold onto, so I created a skin care routine and I followed it on the bad food days as well as the good. The food we eat can ravage our skin and age us quickly.
One of the small victories that I enjoy most every day is the glow I get from taking care of my skin. By investing just a few minutes each morning and night, I can delay the effects of aging and put my best face forward.

We are so lucky we live in an age where there are products that can dramatically improve our skin and significantly delay the signs of aging. Thank God the days of our mother's cold cream are gone. To get the most for your money, don't fall for fancy packaging, shop for the best ingredients. To make the expensive serums last longer, you can mix them with a bit of over-the-counter moisturizer. Look for products with higher levels of hydroxyl acids and Vitamin C as well as Retinol. Hydroxyl acids exfoliate dead skin cells and help to fade sun spots, making your skin smoother and younger looking. Vitamin C stimulates the natural development of collagen, reducing lines and wrinkles and helps to prevent future wrinkles due to sun and free radicals, and gives your skin a radiant glow.
I use glycolic acid moisturizer at night for one full week and then the next week I use a Vitamin C moisturizer at night. Alternating the two ingredients like that has produced results that I feel very good about.
